Matters Of The Heart - The Focused Mouth

Hello Everyone,

This is Pastor Rick with week 3 of our Power Moments In The Word.  I hope our first two letters have begun to give you a real sense of where we are headed and have been helpful to you.  To those of you who have written us, I thank you and especially hope our replies have addressed your concerns directly.

This week we will be dealing with the third factor in our trilogy, The Focused Mouth.  Just as Father, Son and Holy Ghost deal with your body, soul and spirit, so your walk in this new dimension of living involves heart, mind and mouth.  As your minds Focus on the issues of life flowing from your hearts, it is your mouths that speak the transforming words needed to bring about change.

Listen carefully to what your mouth is positioned to accomplish, because in the weeks ahead, we will be dealing with the goals and objectives, as well as the stumbling blocks and frustrations, so many are facing today.

In these challenging economic times, many are experiencing some sort of financial impact.  For some the impact is very serious and causing considerable alarm and even despair. If that is taking place in your life, or someone you know, there‘s good news.  The Bible shows us how to deal with the negative issues of our lives and bring about the changes we hope for.

First, it is essential that you recognize what is happening. Your mind is assessing your circumstances and forming for some, very negative conclusions.  If that is taking place with you or someone you know, these conclusions are then reinforced by what you say about them (I’m out of work, and nobody will hire me.  I’m going to be foreclosed etc.) and when that happens, your negative conclusions become a negative issue of your heart that affects everything you say or do.  It becomes a vicious cycle that makes a dark situation ever darker.  But the Bible brings light to that dark cycle (Psalm 119:130 The entrance of your words gives light.)

In Proverbs 21:23 the Bible shows us how to address these issues of the heart that affect our souls.  We do it with our mouths.  Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.  Your soul is the seat of your intellect, your emotions and your will.  Control the words that come out of your mouth, and you will control the troubles coming your way and their power to affect you.

Start at the root of the matter and recognize that your financial troubles, or whatever issues you may be dealing with, are a heart issue.  If you've been feeding that issue with negative words coming out of your mouth, then you've been giving it stronger and stronger power over the way you look at your circumstances.  Instead of speaking the negative, now begin to speak God’s promises to your heart.  In Job 22:28 it says Decree a thing and it shall be established.  So say this out loud “Heart, heart, hear the word of the Lord.”  God has promised to meet all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”  “It is He that gives me the power to gain wealth.”  “My soul prospers and it is God’s desire that I prosper and enjoy good health, even as my soul prospers.”  “God’s prosperity has become an issue of my life and is now shaping my circumstances for good.”

Speak those words from the depths of your being, and never let up.  The condition of your heart will begin to change and ultimately affect the issues of your lives.  And remember Proverbs 4:23 Keep and guard your heart with all Diligence, for out of it flow the issues of Life.

Until next week,

2 Peter 1:2   May God’s grace and peace be multiplied
to you through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
