Matters Of The Heart - Expecting God's Surprises

Hello Everyone,

     Deuteronomy 28:2 talks about the blessings of God overtaking the obedient believer.  Let me give you the definition of the word "overtake."  From the literal Hebrew it means "surprise."  Not only will God's blessings overtake you, but they will surprise you as well.  God will continually surprise you with His Loving Kindness and Goodness.  

     Deuteronomy 28:3-10 in the Message version list the many ways His surprises will come.  GOD's blessing inside the city, GOD's blessing in the country; GOD's blessing on your children, the crops of your land, the young of your livestock, the calves of your herds, the lambs of your flocks.  GOD's blessing on your basket and bread bowl; GOD's blessing in your coming in, GOD's blessing in your going out.  GOD will defeat your enemies who attack you.  They'll come at you on one road and run away on seven roads.  GOD will order a blessing on your barns and workplaces; he'll bless you in the land that GOD, your God, is giving you.  GOD will form you as a people holy to him, just as he promised you, if you keep the commandments of GOD, your God, and live the way he has shown you.  All the peoples on Earth will see you living under the Name of GOD and hold you in respectful awe.

     As if those surprises were not enough, look what God promises in Deuteronomy 28:11.  And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.  The Amplified version says it in today's language And the Lord shall make you have a surplus of prosperity....  A surplus of prosperity - over and above what is needed.  To understand what this means in the mind of God, consider what is promised in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.  God has promised ownership and dominion over everything on and in that land!  To the children of Israel it meant that everything in Canaan was to be their's.  To you, as joint heirs to the promise, it means the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just that God might continue His covenant with you as it was with the children of Israel.

     So make this declaration with me, God has a purpose for my life, and has created a plan for it, that only I can fulfill.  I feed on His word, step out on what He shows me and expect to be surprised by His blessing.  And remember, friend, we're standing with you and believing God for His very best in every area of your life - and that includes your complete prosperity.
