Matters Of The Heart - The Focused Ear
Hello Everyone,
This is Pastor Rick with week 5 of Power Moments In The Word. In our first three weeks we laid the foundation for all the Power Moments to come, the triune relationship of heart, mind and mouth. Last week we focused in on Living The Vision. This week we'll be examining.

"Click here for today's Power Moment"
There are two gates to your minds, your eyes and your ears. Proverbs 20:12 says The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them, and Mark 4:23 in the Amplified Bible deals with one of them, the ear. If any man has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him perceive and comprehend. That command can seem a little intimidating. It means you’ve got to pay attention to what you’re hearing and measure everything you say, hear, think and do. The reason it’s intimidating is because many have hardly given any though at all to what we say, hear, think or do. And it’s for this very reason that so many have opportunities to overcome.
The things you give your undivided attention to are the things that establish your heart condition, be it good or be it bad.
So turn your undivided attention, right now, to your ears and their relationship to your heart. Proverbs 18:15 says The heart of the prudent gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. That’s pretty clear, you’re being prudent if you want knowledge to be an issue of your heart. And once you decide you want knowledge to be an issue, you will constantly have to pay attention to what you let enter your ears. The reason this is so is not always clear, but it’s very simple. If you are paying attention to what you are hearing, the mind of Christ will tell you whether it’s knowledge or worthless talk. When you know that what you are hearing is knowledge, your mouth will begin to speak it to your heart and make it an issue of your life.
Notice the difference in this process from the condemnation the enemy starts to heap on you every time you try in your own strength not to listen to worthless talk. Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. When you let the mind of Christ pass judgment on what you are permitting yourself to hear, you move out of your own traditional response mode and into the realm of God’s grace. And it’s here that at last you begin to experience the abundant life the Bible promises. In order to have God’s best, you have to be willing to do it God’s way. Isaiah 1:19 says If you be willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land. That’s why Mark 4:24 Amp says ....Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you--and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
So, say with me out loud, Heart, Heart, listen to what I speak to you now in the name of Jesus. My ear hears the reproof of life and I abide among the wise. I receive instruction, and my soul prospers. Because I hear that reproof I grow daily in my understanding and am more and more becoming the wise man who builds his house upon a rock. I have a Focused Ear.
